Kyle Jhazmin Clarito dominated the elementary girls’ division qualifier for the Palarong Pambansa chess competition, scoring a perfect six points in the tournament held at Pasig City Elementary School.
She and runner-up Amber Mariana Maravilla secured spots in the National Capital Region (NCR) Palaro, set for March 17-21 in Makati City.
Clarito, a Grade 6 student at Sacred Heart Academy of Pasig, previously won silver and bronze medals at the 2024 Batang Pinoy National Finals and will compete in the 5th AQ Prime Standard Open as preparation.
In the boys’ category, Sebastian Christoff Tan won gold with five points, while Nathan Keith Alcantara and Kurt Evan Caliva took silver and bronze, respectively.
Other gold medalists in the high school division included Frank Stephanie Engles for the girls and Andrew James Toledo for the boys, with all top two finishers advancing to the NCR Palaro.
