A senior official from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has urged Filipino applicants of the U.S. Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) to apply directly with accredited sponsors to avoid scams and delays.
Kris Gacer of the CFO, emphasized using the official J-1 visa website to access verified sponsors and categories such as teachers, researchers, and interns.
Gacer also reminded applicants to register with the CFO, as this process includes pre-departure orientation and safeguards required by immigration authorities.
The CFO warned against dealing with unauthorized agents, citing rising concerns over exploitation and misinformation.
The EVP, a U.S. State Department initiative, offers Filipinos cultural and professional development opportunities under strict monitoring by the CFO.
