San Remigio, Cebu,u has been placed under a state of calamity after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck the province Tuesday evening, causing widespread damage and disruption.
Mayor Mariano Martinez said the local government is mobilizing resources, providing relief assistance, and coordinating with national agencies to address the needs of affected communities.
The Sangguniang Bayan is set to hold an emergency session to formalize the declaration.
Phivolcs reported the quake’s epicenter was 21 kilometers northeast of Bogo City at a depth of 5 kilometers and warned of possible aftershocks and property damage.
The agency also issued an advisory on minor sea-level disturbances linked to the tremor.
