The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed the BRP Teresa Magbanua, carrying 36 medical personnel and equipment, to Bogo City in Cebu following a magnitude 6.9 earthquake.
The deployment supports President Marcos Jr.’s directive to boost humanitarian aid and disaster response in the affected areas.
In addition to medical teams, the PCG has sent nine search and rescue teams with K9 units and two portable water desalination units to provide clean water to hospitals and evacuation centers.
Tragically, three PCG personnel died when the San Remigio Sports Complex collapsed during the quake. PCG Commandant Adm.
Ronnie Gil Gavan assured the public of the agency’s swift and comprehensive response to aid recovery efforts.
