President Marcos revealed that the administration is already in talks with potential candidates for the 2028 presidential elections, emphasizing that the next leader should be competent, nation-building, and knowledgeable in economics.
Marcos did not name any candidates but noted it would be challenging to field someone without political experience.
He stressed that he will not endorse anyone soon, citing timing as crucial.
The remarks came amid Vice President Sara Duterte’s announcement of her presidential bid and selection of a running mate, further highlighting political tensions between her and the administration.
Marcos also underscored the need for a like-minded president to sustain structural reforms and promote investment-friendly policies in the country.
