The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will publicly disclose the certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for all candidates in the 2025 local and national elections to enhance transparency and verify candidate qualifications.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia cited the case of suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who faces an investigation over illegal activities, as a key reason for this decision.
This will be the first time Comelec has undertaken such a measure, which aims to provide public access while complying with the Omnibus Election Code and Data Privacy Act.
However, personal information such as civil status, spouse’s name, and email addresses will not be included.
The move is intended to ensure that only qualified individuals can run for public office.
