CAMILLE VILLAR INITIATIVE SEEKS TO IMPROVE TOURISM ACCESS FOR PWDS AND SENIORS

House Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar has introduced House Bill No.10349, also known as the “PWD and Senior Citizen-Friendly Tourism Sites Act,” advocating for accessible tourism practices in the Philippines.

The bill aims to ensure that persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens have equal access to tourism sites, recognizing their valued place in society.

Villar emphasizes that accessible tourism allows everyone, regardless of physical limitations or age, to participate fully in tourism experiences.

The proposed legislation mandates the Department of Tourism, in coordination with other relevant agencies, to equip tourism sites with PWD and senior citizen-friendly facilities and infrastructure.

Additionally, the bill calls for the inclusion of PWD and senior citizen-friendly activities in all tourism policies, programs, and plans, underscoring the importance of accessibility in realizing the rights of aging populations and individuals with disabilities.
