The Senate and House of Representatives signed the bicameral conference committee report on the proposed P6.79-trillion 2026 national budget, marking the first time lawmakers saw a reconciled enrolled copy before ratification.
The budget prioritizes human development, with major allocations for education, health, and agriculture, reflecting efforts to support national growth.
The reconciled documents, along with the National Expenditure Program and annexes, will be uploaded to Congress’s transparency portals after ratification.
Lawmakers acknowledged room for improving the budget process and welcomed suggestions to enhance transparency.
Once ratified by both chambers, the budget will be transmitted to President Marcos for review and signing, with safeguards included to prevent politicians from interfering in aid distribution.
