BEIJING AFFIRMS SOVEREIGNTY: PHILIPPINE POLICIES WON’T AFFECT CHINA’S MARITIME CLAIMS

China reaffirmed its sovereignty and maritime rights in the South China Sea on Monday, asserting that Philippine policies will not impact its stance.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated at a regular briefing that regardless of the Philippines’ actions, China’s sovereignty remains unaffected.

Wang emphasized China’s hope for adherence to previous commitments and consensus between the two nations, advocating for peaceful negotiation in managing disputes.

These remarks follow Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s directive to bolster maritime security coordination in response to escalating tensions with China over territorial claims in the South China Sea.
