Smuggled frozen and processed food products worth P47.44 million were seized at the port of Subic, including 3,192 boxes of meat, seafood, and pastries misdeclared as shabu-shabu balls, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported.
The operation was based on intelligence from the Customs Investigation Service and aligns with President Marcos’ directive to ensure only safe, compliant products enter local markets.
BOC and Agriculture officials presented the confiscated items at a press conference, while Subic authorities vowed to strengthen border enforcement against smugglers.
Meanwhile, five people were arrested in Bulacan following a raid that seized P1.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes and other goods, including fake brands and untaxed items.
Charges are being filed under tax, intellectual property, consumer protection, and health warning laws against the Bulacan suspects.
