Laguna Governor Sol Aragones has ordered the demolition of a P68-million building at Laguna University after confirming serious structural defects that endangered more than 7,000 students and faculty.
During her inspection, Aragones found visible cracks on beams, walls, and floors, with engineers warning that the structure showed “swing movements” even without earthquakes.
She directed her legal team to pursue the contractor and government officials behind the faulty construction, stressing that negligence and cover-ups will not be tolerated.
The building, constructed in 2011 and turned over in 2017, was vacated in April 2025, with no clear records of its project documents.
Aragones vowed to hold all responsible parties fully accountable through legal and administrative actions.
