Senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino praised the Bicameral Conference Committee for maintaining the P1.38-trillion education budget in the 2026 national budget, marking the highest allocation in Philippine history.
He highlighted that the funding, equivalent to 4.5 percent of GDP, aligns with UN standards and will address key needs in schools while benefiting millions of students.
The budget includes P67 billion for the Free College Law, increased support for TES, P68 billion for classroom construction, P25.6 billion for the School-Based Feeding Program, and P500 million for Related Learning Experience programs in allied health sciences.
Aquino also commended the bicam for cutting the DPWH budget based on updated market prices and for ensuring transparency through livestreamed deliberations.
He emphasized the importance of continued vigilance to guarantee that the education funds are used properly and free from corruption.
