National Security Adviser Eduardo Año hailed the death of NPA leader Myrna Sularte, calling it a “decisive blow” to the weakening insurgent group.
Sularte, who was the secretary of the NPA’s Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee, was killed in a clash with government troops in Butuan City on February 12.
Año emphasized that her death was a major victory for peace and justice, marking a turning point in the government’s fight against communist insurgents.
He also commended the Philippine Army for their efforts, highlighting the success of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in weakening insurgent influence.
Año urged remaining NPA rebels to surrender and help rebuild the nation.
