Alas, the Pilipinas women’s beach volleyball team secured two victories at the Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championships in Santa Rosa.
Khylem Progella and Sofiah Pagara triumphed over New Zealand’s Shauna Polley and Olivia MacDonald, 21-19, 21-18, in Pool E.
Gen Eslapor and Kly Orillaneda also won against Kazakhstan’s Yekaterina Ryukhova and Anastassiya Ukolova, 21-19, 21-13, in Pool F.
However, the men’s team struggled, with D’Artagnan Potts and Jack Pearse of Australia defeating Rancel Varga and Lerry John Francisco, 21-11, 21-16.
Southeast Asian Games bronze medalists Ran Abdilla and James Buytrago also lost a close match.
