Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has ordered a review of the qualifications of all department and assistant department heads at City Hall.
The decision follows concerns from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the recent suspension of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes by the Office of the Ombudsman.
Garcia instructed the Human Resources Department to assess the eligibility of key personnel after red flags were raised during a CSC visit.
The suspension of Cortes for appointing an unqualified individual, in violation of the Local Government Code, influenced Garcia’s directive.
This move comes in the wake of a similar suspension of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama over reassignment and salary issues.
