Thirteen-year-old surfing prodigy Cathleya Casals will lead Aurora’s local contingent in the Baler International Pro QS 4000 and LQS 1000 from November 17 to 23, marking Baler’s return to the global surfing spotlight.
Casals, ranked No. 17 in the World Surf League (WSL) world junior tour, will compete alongside fellow Filipinos Neil Sanchez, John Mark Tokong, Nilbie Blancada, and other top local surfers.
The Baler leg serves as the second stop of the four-part WSL Philippine series, which kicked off in Siargao last month.
Event director John Carby said the competition has drawn over a hundred elite surfers from across the region, highlighting Baler’s unique sand-bottom waves and vibrant surfing culture.
Supported by national agencies and private sponsors, the tournament will be streamed live worldwide before the WSL series moves to La Union in January.
