Former Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co, linked to the multibillion-peso flood control bribery scandal, is believed to be in Portugal, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Monday.
Authorities urged the public to report sightings of Co, who may hold a Portuguese passport or “golden visa,” though the Philippines has no extradition treaty with Portugal.
Co is wanted for alleged graft and malversation in a P289.5-million road dike project in Oriental Mindoro, and Interpol has issued a Blue Notice to track him.
Remulla assured the public that more high-profile suspects in the flood control corruption case would be arrested once warrants are issued.
Meanwhile, Porac Mayor Jaime Capil, wanted for his role in an online scam, remains in the country, with authorities preparing a possible intensive manhunt.
