At least 50 families in Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, returned to their homes after the Philippine Army intervened in a clash between two Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) factions.
The fighting, which broke out on February 6 in Barangay Zapakan and Barangay Mileb, was sparked by a long-standing family feud between commanders Marato and Baguindali Felmin.
The military and police quickly intervened, convincing the groups to cease fighting, and no casualties were reported.
Seventeen armed MILF members were arrested but later released after a request from the MILF coordinating committee.
The Army confiscated 17 firearms and deployed additional troops to secure the area, allowing displaced families to safely return.
