UAE GRANTS PARDON TO 220 FILIPINO DETAINEES ON NATIONAL DAY

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pardoned 220 Filipino detainees as part of its 53rd National Day celebrations.

This gesture was made possible through the intervention of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who personally appealed to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is currently processing the necessary documentation to facilitate the return of these individuals to the Philippines.

President Marcos expressed his gratitude, stating, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whom I also had the honor to meet, for this compassionate gesture.”

This act underscores the strong diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the UAE.
