TULFO VOWS TO FACE TRIBUNAL CASE QUESTIONING HIS ELIGIBILITY

Sen. Erwin Tulfo is facing a quo warranto petition before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) questioning his eligibility to hold office due to alleged citizenship issues.

The case, filed by disbarred lawyer Berteni Causing on July 15, 2025, comes two months after the proclamation of newly elected senators.

Tulfo acknowledged the case and said he is prepared to face the proceedings, which are being handled by the SET chaired by Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.

Causing had earlier filed a disqualification case against Tulfo during the elections, which the Comelec dismissed on technical grounds.

Meanwhile, the Senate’s proposed 2025 budget was cut in half to ₱7.5 billion, as part of its move to promote fiscal prudence and efficient spending.
