Joe Biden had not been diagnosed with prostate cancer until last week, and his last known PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test was in 2014, according to a spokesperson.
The clarification came after former President Donald Trump accused Biden of concealing his diagnosis, calling it a “surprise” announcement.
Biden’s office confirmed Sunday that the 82-year-old had an aggressive form of prostate cancer discovered after a recent nodule was found.
Medical experts say it’s not unusual for advanced prostate cancer to be diagnosed late, even with access to top-tier medical care.
The diagnosis has reignited scrutiny of Biden’s health as questions mount ahead of the release of a book alleging his physical decline.
