The Department of Tourism-Cordillera reported a 17.71% increase in tourist arrivals in 2024, with 1,983,511 visitors compared to 1,685,133 in 2023.
The majority of visitors, over 1.56 million, visited Baguio City, making up 78% of the region’s total arrivals, while other provinces like Mountain Province, Kalinga, and Benguet also saw significant increases.
The tourism boom contributed approximately P10.7 billion to the regional economy, with foreign tourists spending around P7,000 daily and domestic tourists spending about P4,000.
Despite the growth, foreign tourists represented just over two percent of total arrivals, with domestic visitors making up the bulk.
The DOT-Cordillera aims to target the international market to boost foreign tourist arrivals and further enhance the region’s economy.
