Thousands of public school teachers nationwide will stage a sit-down strike on November 28, pausing regular classes to hold discussions with students on accountability, justice, and issues in the education sector.
The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines said the “day of resistance” will include school-level protests and alternative actions organized by regional and campus chapters.
ACT Chairperson Ruby Bernardo criticized the Marcos-Duterte administration for corruption, neglect, and underfunding of education, arguing that teachers and students continue to face shortages despite billions in government projects.
The strike aims to empower students and expose systemic problems while pushing for genuine reform and accountability.
Public sector unions and government employee organizations have voiced support for the action, joining the call to improve funding for essential public services.
