SUBIC PORTS AND AIRPORT SET FOR MAJOR EXPANSION DURING MARCOS’ TERM

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is planning a ₱28.18 billion expansion and modernization project to enhance port and airport facilities in Subic Bay.

The initiative, aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Luzon Economic Corridor Development, includes two new multipurpose port terminals.

The Lower MAU terminal will feature a 570-meter wharf, while the Redondo Peninsula terminal will have a 600-meter wharf, collectively increasing bulk cargo capacity by 5.5 million metric tons.

Additionally, a ₱10.16 billion Cruise Passenger Terminal and a ₱7.02 billion upgrade to Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA) are planned, aimed at boosting maritime efficiency and passenger capacity.

The airport improvements will support up to 6 million passengers annually and potentially generate ₱12.5 billion in annual revenue.
