Charly Suarez said he thoroughly enjoyed his intense eight-round fight against WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete last May 11 in San Diego, despite losing via a controversial technical decision.
The bout was stopped due to a cut above Navarrete’s eye, which was ruled as caused by a clash of heads, though replays showed it was from Suarez’s punch, leading to uproar in the boxing community.
Suarez’s manager, Luis “Chavit” Singson, claimed the fight was fixed, and reports suggest the result may be overturned to a No Contest with a rematch planned.
Suarez praised the quality of the fight and expressed his willingness to face Navarrete again, regardless of the outcome.
He believes a rematch is justifiable, given the fierce competition and the excitement they delivered to fans.
