Pasig City Council candidate and Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup resigned from the mayoralty slate of Sara Discaya after Ian Sia, Discaya’s running mate, made controversial jokes about single mothers.
Supsup, citing her values as a woman and mother, expressed that she no longer aligned with the direction of the team following Sia’s remarks.
In a statement, Supsup emphasized her commitment to dignity, respect, and women’s empowerment, and said her decision was made with full respect for others and the values she upholds.
Sia apologized for his comments, but the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a show cause order for his remarks.
Supsup wished the KAYA THIS team well despite her decision to step back.
