Three senators have filed a resolution urging the Philippine government to advocate for the interim house arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte in The Hague, citing his deteriorating health.
Senators Ronald Dela Rosa, Bong Go, and Robin Padilla stressed Duterte’s age and multiple medical conditions, despite the ICC’s finding that he remains mentally fit.
Duterte has been detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for over 100 days as he awaits trial for alleged crimes against humanity tied to his anti-drug campaign.
Family members, including Vice President Sara Duterte, expressed concern over his weight loss, poor appetite, and worsening ailments.
The resolution pushes for a more humane form of custody during the ongoing legal proceedings.
