A Senate panel has recommended prosecuting those involved in illegal activities linked to Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs) and protecting dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros revealed that POGOs were used as a front for crimes like human trafficking, money laundering, and political infiltration by foreign agents.
The committee’s report also flagged Tony Yang, a Chinese national accused of obtaining Filipino citizenship fraudulently, and linked naturalized businessman Li Duan Wang to a Chinese triad leader.
Investigations are ongoing into Guo’s alleged ties to Chinese intelligence and the role of immigration personnel in trafficking POGO workers.
The Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Foreign Affairs have been tasked with further probing these security threats.
