Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III expressed confidence that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. could sign the proposed 2026 national budget before the year ends.
He noted that if there is a delay, it would only last a few days, with any reenacted budget expected to cover just two to five days.
Sotto emphasized that such a short delay would have minimal impact on government operations.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives agreed to ratify and transmit the budget to the President on December 29.
The adjournment of Congress was moved from December 19 to December 29 to accommodate the completion of the budget process.
