SC SEEKS RESPONSES ON PETITION CHALLENGING NCR WAGE HIKE FREEZE

The Supreme Court ordered two construction firms and a fishing group to comment on a petition challenging the suspension of Metro Manila’s P85 minimum wage increase.

The parties and wage boards have 10 days to submit their responses.

Labor groups filed the petition after courts in Pasig and Navotas acted on separate challenges to the wage order.

The increase was set to be implemented in two phases, with P60 effective July 25 and P25 on Jan. 20, 2027.

The wage hike remains suspended while the Pasig court’s injunction is in effect.
