The Supreme Court (SC) is promoting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods like mediation, conciliation, and arbitration to provide faster, more flexible, and cost-effective solutions compared to traditional court litigation.
ADR is used primarily for civil cases, and the SC’s Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) conducts Orientation Conferences with Stakeholders (OCS) to raise awareness about court-annexed mediation (CAM), a mandatory pre-trial process aiming to settle disputes amicably.
Recently, OCA head Raul B. Villanueva held an OCS in Binangonan, Rizal, educating judges, local officials, and other stakeholders about the benefits and procedures of CAM.
The initiative aligns with the SC’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 and supports nationwide efforts to expand mediation programs.
Rizal Governor Rebecca Ynares also attended, highlighting the local government’s commitment to ADR and peaceful dispute resolution.
