The Office of the Vice President (OVP) reported spending P20.68 million on Vice President Sara Duterte’s local and foreign travels as of July 31, with P13.21 million for local trips and P7.47 million for foreign visits.
OVP officials clarified that Duterte’s overseas travels were covered by travel authorities and did not use public funds.
Duterte’s recent foreign trips include visits to Japan, the Netherlands, Kuwait, France, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Qatar, and Hong Kong, with her upcoming Japan trip scheduled for September 20 and 21.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved a P902.9 million budget for the OVP in 2026, which is P39 million less than the proposed P942 million but still 21.3 percent higher than the current budget.
The OVP will defend its budget in the House committee hearing, and the new budget will not include Duterte’s children’s book project.
