VP SARA OUT ON P360K BAIL IN THREATS CASE

Vice President Sara Duterte posted P360,000 bail for three counts of grave threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez, avoiding arrest after a court issued a warrant against her.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court lifted the warrant after Duterte voluntarily appeared with her lawyers and completed the bail process.

Duterte said she feared harassment and possible harm if taken into police custody, while the Philippine National Police denied attempting to arrest her at home.

Malacañang and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla defended the police, saying Duterte’s allegations were unfounded and that authorities acted professionally and within the law.

A human rights coalition welcomed the warrant but criticized what it called unequal treatment in the justice system, saying Duterte should not receive special treatment.
