House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos has filed House Resolution No. 905, urging banks and financial service providers to waive transaction fees amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
He said the measure seeks to ease the burden on Filipinos who rely on digital banking and cashless transactions, especially amid rising fuel prices and inflation.
Marcos noted that ATM withdrawal and online transfer fees, though small, accumulate and reduce take-home pay and overseas remittances.
The resolution also calls on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to encourage banks to adopt temporary relief measures and for government financial institutions to lead by example.
He stressed that fee waivers would provide immediate financial relief to millions of Filipinos as they cope with economic pressures from global tensions.
