The Sandiganbayan is urging a swift resolution of remaining wealth forfeiture cases tied to the martial law-era coco levy fund scam, citing the need to end decades-long litigation.
In a resolution dated January 7, the anti-graft court, chaired by Presiding Justice Geraldine Faith Econg, warned that further delays could lead to the dismissal of the cases.
Filed in 1987, the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) accused Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Imelda Marcos, and their cronies of amassing wealth through the Coconut Industry Investment Fund.
Most coco levy cases were dismissed last year due to delays or recovered assets. The court emphasized that after 37 years, these cases must conclude.
