Russia seeks to expand its economic and agricultural ties with the Philippines, with potential cooperation in areas such as agriculture and peaceful nuclear energy.
Russian Ambassador Marat Pavlov said his country is open to proposals from the Philippine side and emphasized the importance of finding ways to increase trade.
He noted that Russia may grant market access to more Philippine products, such as fish and tuna, while Russian pork and beef will soon enter the Philippine market.
Trade between the two countries reached around USD600 million, with Russia exporting mainly industrial and agricultural goods, and the Philippines exporting electronics, garments, and food items like dried mango.
Pavlov also confirmed growing interest among Russian companies to return to the Philippines and pursue collaborations in nuclear energy development.
