Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga arrived late to his House Committee on Ethics and Privileges hearing on Monday, missing most of the proceedings.
Barzaga admitted he was late because he was “playing games on his computer” the night before.
The ethics complaint against him was filed by lawmakers including House Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno and members of the National Unity Party (NUP), who accused him of using his platform to denigrate the government.
Barzaga said he prefers the committee to hear the case rather than settle it and stated he is prepared to face any sanctions.
The incident underscores growing scrutiny over the conduct of public officials in the House of Representatives.
