Baguio’s Joshua Ramos captured the Filipino Elite crown at the 5150 Guimaras Triathlon with a strong finish in the 10km run, completing the Olympic-distance race in 2:14:00.
Ramos overcame shifting weather conditions, including early rain and intense heat, while posting the fastest run split to secure a two-minute victory over Matthew Hermosa, with Kim Remolino finishing third.
The event also marked the first staging of a major triathlon in Guimaras and launched the 2026 5150 Triathlon Islands of the Philippines Series, a four-leg Olympic-distance circuit across scenic island destinations.
On the women’s side, Erika Burgos dominated the Filipino Elite category with a 2:36:30 finish, while other age-group winners from both men’s and women’s divisions highlighted the competitive field.
The series aims to boost endurance sports tourism in the Philippines, backed by the Philippine Sports Commission and other national agencies.
