Raffy Tulfo on Saturday called for a transparent investigation into the recent shooting incident inside the Senate, saying the chaos has delayed the sponsorship of several proposed measures.
Tulfo stressed that the integrity and credibility of the Senate should prevail over political interests to allow lawmakers to continue serving the public effectively.
The disturbance erupted last Wednesday after gunshots were fired inside the Senate premises amid tensions surrounding the possible arrest of Ronald dela Rosa over his alleged role in the previous administration’s anti-drug campaign.
Tulfo also backed the Ombudsman’s preventive suspension of acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca, while saying the National Bureau of Investigation personnel who allegedly fired back should also be held accountable.
Separate investigations are now being conducted by the Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Ombudsman, with authorities planning to review CCTV footage and forensic evidence related to the incident.
