More than one million qualified personnel of the Department of Education began receiving their mid-year bonus on May 15, following the directive of Bongbong Marcos ahead of the opening of School Year 2026-2027.
The release covers around 900,000 public school teachers and over 100,000 non-teaching personnel nationwide.
Sonny Angara said the timely distribution of the bonus reflects the administration’s recognition of the dedication and sacrifices of teachers and education staff.
He added that supporting both teaching and non-teaching personnel is essential to the government’s education reform efforts, including literacy, numeracy, and digital learning programs.
The mid-year bonus, equivalent to one month’s basic salary, is granted to qualified regular, casual, and contractual employees who meet service and performance requirements set by government guidelines.
