Marikina 2nd District Rep. Miro Quimbo called for the immediate suspension and investigation of the contractor and operator of the Iwahig and Tumana pumping stations after finding them non-operational.
Quimbo inspected the facilities as the Marikina River approached the third alarm level amid heavy Habagat rains.
He said no personnel from J.D. Legaspi Construction, the contractor and operator, were present during his inspection.
Quimbo warned that the non-working pumping stations worsened flooding in nearby communities.
He urged DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon to investigate and hold those responsible accountable if negligence is established.
