The Quezon City government has approved the Comprehensive Gender-Inclusive Health Ordinance, a pioneering policy aimed at ensuring equitable access to health services for all residents regardless of gender identity or expression.
The ordinance mandates all public health facilities in the city to provide gender-affirming care, mental health support, and specialized medical services, while banning conversion therapy and suppression practices.
Mayor Joy Belmonte hailed the measure as a concrete step toward health equity, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community.
She emphasized that the policy addresses long-standing discrimination in health care and ensures no one is left behind.
The ordinance integrates gender-affirming care into existing city health programs, removing barriers for gender-diverse and transgender residents.
