Mayor Joy Belmonte has reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of good governance, highlighting the city’s impressive achievements over the past year.
In her fifth State of the City Address, Belmonte expressed her deepest gratitude to local officials, employees, city residents, and partners for their unwavering support in propelling Quezon City’s progress forward.
Throughout her address, the mayor emphasized the city government’s remarkable accomplishments across various departments and initiatives. She underscored the direct correlation between the city’s steadfast commitment to good governance and the substantial increase in local revenue collection.
The mayor announced that this year’s local government budget of P35.1 billion marks the largest budget ever approved by the city government.
Despite the significant increase in budget, Quezon City has maintained its exemplary financial management practices, earning a clean audit opinion or unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit for the third consecutive year.
This year, Mayor Belmonte emphasized that the local government prioritized five key areas of focus: ensuring inclusive social services, driving economic development, promoting environmental sustainability, implementing quality infrastructure projects, and upholding sustained good governance.
Among the notable achievements highlighted by the mayor is the expansion of automated services, including online business registration, real property tax payment, and birth registration systems.
