QUEZON CITY LAUNCHES SOLAR-POWERED SCHOOLS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Quezon City has converted eight public schools to solar power as part of its climate change and sustainability initiatives, Mayor Joy Belmonte announced.

The schools, including Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School and Commonwealth Elementary School, are expected to generate over ₱8.5 million in annual savings while benefiting more than 28,800 students.

Belmonte highlighted that using renewable energy in city-owned facilities helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supports the city’s climate mitigation goals.

This is the first phase of a 50-school solarization plan that will expand solar energy across public infrastructure in Quezon City.

The city has also completed solar installations in major government buildings and hospitals, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable, energy-efficient services.
