Around 29 provincial roads in Bohol are being proposed for conversion into national roads to secure stronger funding and support from the national government for infrastructure development.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado said the plan was discussed with DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, noting that national classification would allow the DPWH to fund road improvement, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
The proposed conversions, endorsed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, cover key routes across the province, including areas in northern, central, and eastern Bohol, as well as access roads to ports and inter-island transport hubs.
Aumentado said the upgrade would help ease the financial burden on the provincial government while speeding up infrastructure development.
The initiative aims to improve connectivity and support economic activity across the province’s towns and municipalities.
