President Sherwin Gatchalian said it is not standard practice for senators to turn over a stripped office to their successors.
He recalled that former Senate President Koko Pimentel turned over his office to him in good, usable condition when he joined the Senate in 2016.
Gatchalian said senators usually leave some furnishings and fixtures to help reduce renovation costs for the new occupant.
He noted that the Senate only allocates P700,000 for office renovations, even though Sen. Jinggoy Estrada used his personal funds for the renovation.
Gatchalian also said Estrada should have informed Sen. Vicente Sotto III before removing the office’s fixtures and furnishings out of courtesy.
