Malacañang assured consumers that PrimeWater services will continue despite the company’s change in ownership from the Villar Group to Lucio Co’s business group.
The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) is preparing guidelines to prevent service interruptions, and President Marcos is being regularly updated on consumer concerns.
LWUA began investigating PrimeWater in May following complaints of supply disruptions and high charges affecting over 1.7 million households nationwide.
Government officials emphasized that consumers should not be charged for services they do not receive, while the potential liabilities of PrimeWater are still under review.
Lawmakers warned that the ownership transfer, conducted with minimal public consultation, should not absolve the company of accountability for past service issues.
