President Marcos is set to visit the United States from July 20 to 22, Malacañang confirmed, following an announcement by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Kuala Lumpur.
This will be Marcos’ fifth trip to the US since taking office in 2022 and his first since Donald Trump’s election last year.
Details of the visit and the agenda for talks with President Trump are still being finalized, with the Department of Foreign Affairs expected to release more information.
The visit comes amid ongoing discussions on tariffs, with the Trump administration recently imposing a 20 percent tariff on Philippine exports.
Rubio emphasized the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region to US foreign policy, highlighting the strong partnership with the Philippines and ASEAN countries.
