PRESIDENT MARCOS RENEWS COMMITMENT TO BOOST AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing agricultural productivity in the country.

He made this commitment during the 70th founding anniversary of the Federation of Free Farmers, urging its members to remain committed to uplifting the lives of Filipino rural workers.

In his address, President Marcos emphasized that one of his administration’s top priorities is to improve agricultural productivity, ensure food supply, make it affordable, and reduce dependence on imports.

He stated that his government is actively pursuing policies to support and protect the welfare of farmers, fishers, manufacturers, and consumers.

With a substantial budget allocation of P85.88 billion for 2023 and a proposed budget of P92.4 billion for 2024, Marcos expressed confidence in propelling the modernization of the agri-fisheries sector.

The President, who also serves as the Agriculture chief, highlighted the importance of strengthening associations and cooperatives to provide business and investment opportunities for their beneficiaries, ultimately improving the standard of living for farmers, fishers, and their families.
