President Marcos has ordered a thorough review of agency budgets amid allegations of anomalies, especially in flood control projects that worsened the effects of recent weather disturbances.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget is under particular scrutiny for questionable insertions, with other agencies also facing investigations.
Newly appointed Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon is reviewing the department’s proposed budget, which is part of the administration’s larger P6.793-trillion national budget plan for 2026.
Meanwhile, lawmakers and officials have called for reforms in the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) following corruption allegations.
Malacañang emphasized the review aims to ensure accountability and transparency, not to provoke unrest or target political figures.
